Ces partenaires constituent le cœur de SALÉ. Les protagonistes du projet - jeunes artistes - sont issu·e·s de ce réseau qui accueille en leurs murs les workshops menés par les artistes de l’Externationale Pirate. Ils sont les pivots de ce projet expérimental et externational. En septembre, des stations radios éphémères surgiront de ces territoires alliés, en concomitance à celle du Centre Wallonie-Bruxelles/Paris aka le Vaisseau.

These partners shapes the heart of SALÉ. The project’s protagonists—young artists—come from this network, which hosts workshops led by artists from the Externationale Pirate. They are the driving force behind this experimental and transnational project. In September, ephemeral radio stations will emerge from these allied territories, coinciding with the launch of the one in Centre Wallonie-Bruxelles/Paris, also known as Le Vaisseau.
L’Externationale d’Artistes Pirates est une communauté informelle d’artistes conjecturée par Stéphanie Pécourt - instigatrice du projet - qui freaktionnalisent des médiums et technologies et dont le travail repose sur des philosophies et herméneutiques pirates. Elle rassemble des artistes de Belgique et de France engagé·e·s dans le partage libre de leurs protocoles et recherches. Ces artistes sont celles et ceux qui assurent outre les workshops au sein des territoires allié·e·s et interviennent lors des Amarrages.

The Externationale d’Artistes Pirates is an informal community of artists founded by Stéphanie Pécourt—the project’s initiator—who freaktionalize mediums and technologies and whose work is rooted in pirate philosophies and hermeneutics. It brings together artists from Belgium and France committed to freely sharing their protocols and research. These artists are the ones who lead workshops in allied territories and participate in the Amarrages.

De mars à juin, les workshops constituent des moments phares du projet SALÉ.
Menés par des artistes de l’Externationale Pirate, ils se déroulent au sein des écoles et centres d’art alias les partenaires cardinaux et permettent aux protagonistes du projet de s’immerger dans des pratiques expérimentales et limières qui visent à se réapproprier des médiums et détourner des technologies.
“Ouvrir les boites noires, tel serait l’un des enjeux de ce projet de réappropriation d’un moyen de transmission de communication - se réapproprier - désaliéner - décoder - démystifier - déséquencer pour mieux appréheder et intéragir.
Au travers du projet SALÉ, des technologies de maîtrise et d’auto-édition, d’auto-détermination sont les objets d’investigations.”
Chaque workshop stimule la production de contenus — sons, radios éphémères, performances — qui pourront ensuite être diffusés pendant les cinq amarrages.

From March to June, the workshops are key highlights of the SALÉ project.
Led by artists from the Externationale Pirate, they take place in schools and art centers—our key partners—and allow the project’s participants to immerse themselves in experimental and boundary-pushing practices aimed at reclaiming mediums and repurposing technologies.
“Opening the black boxes—that is one of the challenges of this project to reclaim a means of communication: reclaiming, de-alienating, decoding, demystifying, and de-sequencing to better understand and interact.
Through the SALÉ project, technologies of mastery, self-publishing, and self-determination are the subjects of investigation.”
Each workshop stimulates the production of content—sounds, pop-up radio stations, performances—which can then be broadcast during the five docking events.

Les amarrages du projet SALÉ sont au nombre de cinq d’une durée chacun de 3h, et constituent les moments de diffusion et de viralisation de la radio externationale pirate SALÉ. Ils fédèrent de nouveaux partenaires : la Villa Médicis #Nuit des Cabanes, l’Institut Français de Palerme et le 104 Centquatre-Paris.
Les programmations de ces plateaux éphémères inédits s’ancreront dans ces espaces physiquement et seront retransmis sur la plateforme numérique SALÉ.
Ils agrègeront des contenus différés produits à l’année par les protagonistes & des directs assurés par des artistes invité·e·s.
Chaque amarrage sera réverbéré par des radios pirates alliées disséminées sur les territoires où sont ancrés les partenaires cardinaux.
Rome - Le 25 juin 2026
La cabane coproduite la Villa Médicis et le Centre Wallonie-Bruxelles/Paris signée par le bureau d'architecture Bento dans le cadre du Festival des Cabanes et à la faveur de la Nuit des Cabanes mutera en une station radio SALÉ.
Palerme - Date TBC
Le plateau éphémère SALÉ se constituera en synergie avec l’Institut français de Palerme où s’opèrera en amont une semaine de workshop.
Paris - Les 17, 18 et 19 septembre 2026
A l’instar de l’amarrage de Rome, deux plateaux SALÉ s’implémenteront sous pavillon d’une autre cabane coproduite par La S Grand Atelier - Centre d'Art Brut et Contemporain et le Centre Wallonie-Bruxelles. Un autre plateau SALÉ s’ancrera également dans les espaces du 104-Centquatre-Paris.
Les programmations de ces amarrages seront retransmis sur la plateforme numérique SALÉ.

The SALÉ project features five events, each lasting three hours, which serve as opportunities for the broadcast and viral spread of the international pirate radio station SALÉ. They bring together new partners: the Villa Médicis #Nuit des Cabanes, the Institut Français in Palermo, and the 104 Centquatre-Paris.
The programming for these unique pop-up stages will be physically anchored in these spaces and broadcast on the SALÉ digital platform.
They will combine pre-recorded content produced throughout the year by the project’s key participants with live broadcasts featuring guest artists.
Each event will be amplified by allied pirate radio stations scattered across the regions where the key partners are based.
Rome – June 25, 2026
The cabin, co-produced by the Villa Medici and the Centre Wallonie-Bruxelles/Paris and designed by the architectural firm Bento as part of the Festival des Cabanes and thanks to the Nuit des Cabanes, will transform into a SALÉ radio station.
Palermo – June xx, 2026
The temporary SALÉ stage will be organized in collaboration with the French Institute in Palermo, where a week-long workshop will take place beforehand.
Paris – September 17, 18, and 19, 2026
Following the example of the Rome installation, two SALÉ exhibitions will be held under the auspices of another venue co-produced by La S Grand Atelier - Centre d'Art Brut et Contemporain and the Centre Wallonie-Bruxelles. Another SALÉ platform will also be based in the spaces of 104-Centquatre-Paris.
The programming of these docking events will be streamed on the SALÉ digital platform.

Fin 2024, le Centre aka le vaisseau lançait sa biennale Archipel#Chaos-Monde avec un Focus consacré aux territoires outre-marins et panafricains.
Ces Rencontres entendaient, pour reprendre l’expression de Dipesh Chakrabarty «provincialiser » le regard européen et amener à la confluence de paroles qui bousculent les économies de pensées.
La première édition de celles-ci fut axée sur la langue française qui réverbérait l’appel à sa dénationalisation. L’idée qu’une langue – le français dénationalisé selon les termes empruntés à Achille Mbembe - déterritorialisé, métissé, inhomogène et vernacularisé – que la pensée de langue française et non française – puisse fertiliser des liens constituait un des fils rouges de cette édition inaugurale.
En cette seconde édition, ce qui fait lien, qui fait langue sera la Méditerranée – considérée comme élément possiblement unificateur non par réduction en similarités mais par valorisation d’une éthique du multiple, du divers et de l’irréductible.
Dans l’ombre des certitudes, les zones liquides, les zones de flux, la Méditerranée offre l’opportunité d’un récit métaphorique parabolisant des altérités repensées, les traversées, les circulations, les migrations.
Pensées en mode biennal, les Rencontres alternent année de manifestations et année dédiée à l’incubation de projets. En 2025, fut incubé un prototype qui est donc itéré en 2026. Le projet fut celui d’une Têlè-visionS numérique pirate.
En 2026, le projet mutera en une Radio pirate externationale et sera porté par des Allié.e.s émanant du Maroc, d’Égypte, du Liban, de Belgique auxquels se grefferont des partenaires à Rome et Palerme.
L’imaginaire de ce projet - nommé Salé - prend sa source dans des contre-récits, un pan du patrimoine méditerranéen ignoré et dans la symbolique renégate soulignée par son nom même qui fait référence à une société maritime pirate qui s’est forgée en réaction à l’absolutisme de droit divin de monarchies européennes au XVIIe à l’embouchure du fleuve Bouregreg au Maroc.
Ce nom – SALÉ - est ici emprunté comme un ardent appât pour se saisir de la possibilité d’inventer de l’inédit, de faire primer l’audace frondeuse, de formuler des langues nouvelles, vernacularisées, des langues d’usage à l’instar des langues maritimes.
Les radios Salé transmises non par les ondes mais par le net sont expurgées de centralités ; elles sont sans nations, sans frontières, sans régences et fondées du pouvoir de leurs créateur.trice.s.
Ce projet incarnera un volet cardinal des Rencontres Archipel#Chaos-Monde. Son régime d’incarnation sera virtuel et physique et son anatomie sera résolument « rhizomique & virale », constituée d’un noyau agrégeant des écoles supérieures des Beaux-arts et Centres – auquel se greffent des partenaires satellites où la radio viendra amarrer pendant 2026 : la Villa Médicis et l’Institut français de Palerme.

At the end of 2024, the Centre, aka the “vessel,” launched its biennial Archipel#Chaos-Monde with a Focus dedicated to overseas and Pan-African territories.
These Encounters sought, in the words of Dipesh Chakrabarty, to “provincialize” the European gaze and bring together a confluence of voices that challenge dominant modes of thought.
The first edition focused on the French language, which resonated with a call for its denationalization. The idea was that a language—the French language denationalized, in the terms borrowed from Achille Mbembe—deterritorialized, hybridized, heterogeneous, and vernacularized, and that the thought of both French and non-French languages, could fertilize new connections. This formed one of the guiding threads of the inaugural edition.
In this second edition, what will create connection and language will be the Mediterranean—considered as a potentially unifying element, not through reduction to similarities, but through the valorization of an ethics of multiplicity, diversity, and irreducibility. In the shadows of certainties, in liquid zones, in zones of flux, the Mediterranean offers the opportunity for a metaphorical narrative that parabolizes rethought alterities, crossings, circulations, and migrations.
Conceived in a biennial mode, the Encounters alternate between a year of events and a year dedicated to project incubation. In 2025, a prototype was incubated, which will be iterated in 2026. This project was a digital pirate Tele-visions. In 2026, the project will evolve into an Externationale pirate radio, carried by Allies from Morocco, Egypt, Lebanon, and Belgium, with additional partners in Rome and Palermo.
The imagination of this project—called SALÉ—draws from counter-narratives, a neglected part of Mediterranean heritage, and the renegade symbolism highlighted by its very name, which refers to a maritime pirate society forged in reaction to the divine-right absolutism of European monarchies in the 17th century at the mouth of the Bouregreg River in Morocco.
This name—SALÉ—is here borrowed as a bold lure, seizing the possibility of inventing the unprecedented, privileging rebellious audacity, and formulating new, vernacularized languages, languages of use, like maritime languages. The SALÉ radios, transmitted not via the airwaves but over the internet, are freed from centralities; they are without nations, borders, or regencies, and are founded on the power of their creators.
This project will embody a central component of the Archipel#Chaos-Monde Encounters. Its mode of embodiment will be both virtual and physical, and its structure will be resolutely “rhizomic & viral,” consisting of a core aggregating higher art schools and centers, with satellite partners where the radio will dock in 2026: the Villa Medici and the French Institute of Palermo.
